The New Kinetics

The New Kinetics garage-y post-punk swagger & infectious melodic hooks bring an allure reminiscent of Exile era Stones. Birdy’s vocals soar in an inferno of ’60s brit rock influence evidence of Reilly’s guitar, Leslie’s bass and Bonser’s drumming. A dynamite live show that’ll keep you coming back.

The New Kinetics were formed when Birdy became tired of writing solo and started playing with Brian (Hotel St George). When the two had a few tunes put together they went on the hunt for a proper drummer. After trying out a LOT of drummers they played with Jon (Death on Mars), and it was an immediate fit. The band was walking through the park one day talking about how they needed a bass player when suddenly they heard a loud crash. They ran towards the Museum of Man in Balboa Park when they saw a girl taking on 9 ninjas armed with swords all at the same time. After she had defeated them the band asked her if she also played bass. She said she did and Leslie joined the band.

While playing extensively in the San Diego area, the band recorded and released an EP, “Rock and Roll Has Got to Go,” in late 2010. Their first full-length album, Contact, was released on September 27, 2011.
